  4.     Why is everyone so surprised by the ethics problems of Jim
  5. Wright, Tony Coelho & Co. (NATION, June 12). Self-interest dictates
  6. that Congressmen will accept honorariums, free travel, PAC funds
  7. and gifts as long as they are legal. Since more than 90% of all
  8. incumbent members of Congress are re-elected, logic suggests that
  9. the majority of Americans are quite happy with the quality of the
  10. Congress.

  15.     If Newt Gingrich is so concerned about three decades of
  16. Democratic dominance of Congress, my advice to him is to recognize
  17. that the Democratic majority was duly elected. He should start
  18. figuring out how (if it is possible) to make the Republican Party
  19. more responsive to the needs of middle- and lower-class voters.
